Keen interest from school leavers at Curtin Malaysia’s Info Day

Miri – 20 March 2019 – The recent Curtin Info Day at the campus of Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) here received keen interest from school leavers. The event was held in conjunction with the university’s current Foundation programme intake.

Over 100 SPM and STPM leavers and their parents thronged the campus to meet marketing staff and academics and find out more about its courses, intakes and scholarships and loans.

They also took the opportunity to tour the campus and get a feel of life on Curtin University’s largest international campus and global hub in Asia. Spread across 1,200 acres, it is the largest Australian international campus in the world.

On-the-spot assessments and applications were conducted and the first 10 enrolees received complimentary AirAsia e-vouchers from the university.

Several of those who attended commented that the event was highly beneficial as it enabled them to get the necessary information to make informed decisions about career pathways, courses and enrolment.

They also got to know more about Curtin Malaysia’s new 20th Anniversary Scholarships amounting to RM2.5 million exclusively for high-achieving school leavers in Miri Division, and the Curtin Malaysia Merit Scholarships for domestic and international students, as well as other financial aid such as PTPTN study loans and Yayasan Sarawak scholarships.

In addition, they met with lecturers from the faculties of Engineering & Science, Business, and Humanities who briefed them on their faculties.

Some 20 student ambassadors were also present to share their student experiences and lead the campus tours, as well as a number of Curtin Malaysia alumni who shared their journeys from students to working professionals in various industries.

In the morning, there was a talk entitled ‘Explore Engineering and Science’ by academics from the Faculty of Engineering & Science, followed by interactive activities conducted by academics of the Faculty of Humanities and a sharing session by alumni of the Faculty of Business in the afternoon.

Curtin Malaysia’s current Foundation intake has been extended to 26 April 2019 to cater to school leavers who have just received their results. Those interested to enrol are encouraged to do so well before the closing date. Those interested to join the next undergraduate intake in July are also encouraged to apply now.
