Curtin Malaysia’s Foundation intake extended to 11 September

Miri – 10 August 2017 – Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is extending its Semester 2, 2017 Foundation Programme intake to 11 September 2017 to cater to school-leavers keen to enter its foundation programmes in Engineering and Science, Commerce or Arts.

Mini-orientation sessions and a special schedule of classes are available for new students who may have missed the current orientation activities on campus for foundation students who have already enrolled, with classes set to commence on 14 August 2017.

Curtin Malaysia’s foundation programmes are intensive, focused programmes aimed at ensuring students attain academic requirements to enter undergraduate programmes, and are able to adapt to university life more confidently, both in terms of level and style of education.

The students are guaranteed places in the undergraduate programmes of their choice in the university’s Faculty of Engineering and Science, Faculty of Business or Faculty of Humanities upon successful completion of the one-year Foundation programmes.

Students benefit from low student-lecturer ratios in classrooms and a variety of modern, diversified teaching methods including workshops, tutorials, laboratory projects and group work. They are also taught by highly experienced lecturers in modern, vibrant learning spaces and have access to various academic and personal support mechanisms such as one-on-one consultations with academic staff and numerous modules conducted through the Office of Learning and Teaching.

As Curtin Malaysia applies Curtin’s ‘triple-i’ curriculum model which embeds industry links, intercultural and indigenous awareness and interdisciplinary study into each course curriculum, learning is not confined to classrooms and students can find learning beyond the classroom just as rewarding.

Curtin Malaysia is the largest international campus and Asian hub of Curtin University, a global university currently ranked in the top 2 percent of universities worldwide and number 10 in Australia in the highly regarded Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2016. Curtin has also significantly increased its position in the QS World University Ranking (QSWUR) 2017-18, rising to 262 in the world, and was recently placed 22nd in the world in the 2018 QSWUR Top 50 under 50 ratings of the world’s young universities.

In addition, the university is ranked 26th among the Times Higher Education (THE) 200 Most International Universities in the World, and is ranked in the top 200 worldwide in 16 subject areas in the QSWUR by Subject 2017 and 12 in the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2017.

Students at Curtin Malaysia study courses identical to those at other Curtin campuses in Australia, Singapore and Dubai, and degrees earned at the Malaysian campus are conferred directly by the parent campus in Perth. They also enjoy an undifferentiated learning experience and student learning support mechanisms available to all Curtin students.

Like its Australian parent, Curtin Malaysia has a very global focus with close to 5,000 students from some 50 countries and highly-qualified teaching staff from some 15 countries further strengthen its international outlook.

Applicants with outstanding results can take advantage of the Curtin Malaysia Merit Scholarships offering significant tuition fee waivers. Other financial aid such as PTPTN study loans, EPF/SOSCO withdrawal schemes and a Fee Instalment Plan are also available. Full details can be obtained at scholarships.curtin.edu.my.
